This is an advert for Katy Perry's album 'One of the Boys'. It shows that it was released 22 September as the date is in clear white bold writing. Although it doesn't have the year on it, when this was first advertised it would have been clear of what year.
A photograph of Katy Perry is the main image with her off centre to the left. The text is written to the side of her, but as she is still the only other large image on this advert, she is still clearly shown as the main image. The main colour scheme is pink and white with other colours such as blues, purple, green and yellow. These colours however are more in the background and don't take away from the main colour scheme.
There is a smaller image of the album cover shown on the right along with the rest of the text. This is shown as the main image on the advert is different to the image on the album. However the images are still closely related in setting and style so it is clear that this is related to the album theme.
The artists image and style is clearly pop as the colours are bright and pink is a main colour. This would appeal to girls and women as the images are targeted at girls, but this advert also acts on male gaze as her outfit is revealing.
Only one song 'I kissed a girl' is featured, but as this was her first successful album, only this song had been a hit at this point and was a well known song. It doesn't clearly state whether it was available for both download and CD, but would most likely be advertising for the CD.
There is a web address 'www.katyperry.com' which is her official website. There is text showing ' Include the #1 Smash hit', this is the only critical quotes shown on the advert. The record company is not represented on this advert.
I chose to look at a Katy Perry advert as she is the artist to our track. We could then find if there were any conventions and styles that were uniquely her own.
