Pop Rock Genre

The Pop Rock genre can be described as an upbeat variety of rock music or a sub-genre of pop music that uses catchy pop songs which are typically guitar based. It was first developed in the 1960s in the UK and USA, it has become more mainstream and is a popular music genre at present with well known artists such as Avril Lavigne, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Green Day and the Jonas Brothers. Older artists include Elton John, Madonna, Robbie Williams, Cher and Michael Jackson.
Typical instruments used are: Electric guitars, bass guitars, drums, synthesizers, keyboards and vocal.
In the pop-rock genre, the artists usually have an individualist clothing style which often include black and/ or very bright, bold colours.
