Ancillary Tasks- Research of Magazine Advert
This is an magazine advert for Pink's album that was being newly released last year. The advert shows clearly the presentation of Pink's character and persona as part of the pop-rock genre that we have been looking at in consideration of our music video. This advert shows the rock-genre through:
1. Colour Scheme
The use of pink and yellow works together to create an extremely bold contrast of colours - which is very pop-rock. As it is accesivily eye catching which is undoubtidly the foundation of what a pop rock is about in the sense of his music.
2. Text
There are four main types of text used within the magazine advert. The main and most important text is the name of the artist, which is shown in extremely large yellow letters - of which the "N" is missing and yet still assumed enough to be left out. The text of the name is not just simple lettering that resemble something of the Arial variety - instead it is slanted and the letters are completly filled in which includes the hole usually associated with the "p". The other styles of text are also extensively bold and written in gradually smaller writting where size is comparitive to importance of the information e.g. "Raise your glass" is the second largest text which is the name of the song which is considered most popular and therefore the one that is selling the new album that is being advertised. The text is also written in white, silver and yellow: the difference of colours and sizes seperates out the different information.
3. Image
The image involved in this magazine is simple and just shows Pink from the shoulders up. She is dressed up in almost stereotypical rock clothes of a black sequened jacket with dark make up and spiked up blond hair - this all adds to her perosona and the persona of the music which is pop rock. The image of Pink is also shown as an slightly off screen.
