To fit in with our narrative we have decided that we need three characters:
A) The Wife
The wife is going to be the "artist" who is therefore going to be the main character who is going to have to lip sync and be in every scene including the narrative and performance parts of our video. We want someone who is in her late teens or early twenties. We will probably have to use someone of seventeen or eighteen because we only really know people of this age that would be willing to appear in our video, this does work though when looking at who we would be aiming to use anyway.
B) The Husband
This character is only going to appear in a couple of scenes which will then be repeated as part of a flashback. We need someone that can act like a horrible husband so they need to be able to act even if it just a little bit. When it comes to age we want them to be the same age as "The Wife", or a little bit older, we dont want an odd destraction of him being way older than her which then makes you assume that he is perverted as well as a drunk.
C) Bar Staff
It doesnt really matter if they are a man or a women as long as they look over 18. The character is only going to be serving drinks so they wont have to act for long, so really we can use anyone for this part.
The choice of "only" three characters is because:
1) Having looked at many, many pop rock music videos the story usually centres on a break up and thus you having the man and the woman that are breaking up appeaing primarily with possibly one or two extras. Although not strictly a convention in our eyes because a considerable ammount of videos break with the rule and include more complex narrative, we have still decided to settle with sticking to this trend.
2) We dont wont to have to rely on lots of different actors, instead we think it will be easy to come up with three actors (hopefully).
3) We only have two primary cast members so that the narrative can remain simplistic enough that it is easy to follow it with clarity.
