We decided that we wanted to look at the different types of font that are used in digipak and magazine adverts, in our genre. We felt it important to complete this extra research because non of us had yet focused on the fonts used, instead we were much more interested in the ancillary products as a whole piece.
Having looked and made a small moodboard of a collection of notable pop rock artists use of font on their digipak covers, and magazine covers we have decided a couple of things:
1) The name of the artist is generally shown in plainer font than that of the album name.
2) The artist name is usually seen as grander in size than the name of the album.
3) The artist name is usually written extremely clearly and is subjected to little alteration unless it is in creating a type of logoryphic typography (Maroon 5 and Katy Perry most prominently do this).
4) The colours of each are usually in black, white, pink or silver.
5) The album name is generally shown directly underneath the name of the artist.
We will consider all this points when completing our ancillary tasks.
